We shot these portraits in early January and boy was it cold! Time was of the essence, so rescheduling was not an option, however everyone in this super cool family was a trooper! We braved the 30 degree temps (and wind that made it feel even colder) together and got some great photos and even shared many laughs. I always love photographing families and children, but there is something about photographing couples who are so deeply in love that is so rewarding. Love is such a powerful thing and to be able to capture even a glimmer of it between two people is such a privilege.

Taking a break from photographing little ones, this shoot was of three beautiful sisters. What was neat about this session is that each time one of them passes a major milestone (graduation, engagement, etc), they have a portrait of the 3 of them done. And because Leslie is graduating and Stacey is getting married, I was bestowed with the honor of taking this special family portrait. We had so much fun catching up (it’s worth mentioning that I grew up living mere yards from these ladies). It was so much fun and they were such great models! Here are some of my favorites.

The Doves | Family Portraits

December 2, 2009

I had so much fun hanging out with and photographing the Dove family. The three Dove boys totally cracked me up with their back and forth shenanigans and Tara was simply beautiful. During our session we took some time to play Red Rover in a big open field, which was so much fun to watch - and photograph. (Yeah, that’s right… I’m a super cool photographer that lets her clients actually have some fun!) I had a great time with this great family! Here are some of my favs from the shoot.

Owen and Elliott were an absolute pleasure to photograph. These boys were so happy during the entire session, it made my job so much fun! Owen is three and loves to talk; he kept telling me all kinds of cute little stories. Elliott is one of the happiest 11 month olds I’ve seen and gave me more smiles than I could have ever asked for. These are some of my favorites, though there were so many more.

These spiffy blue shoes have a great story. Owen’s mom got them for him in Africa before he was ever born, in hopes that one day she might have a little boy. Now that he’s three, he can finally fit into them and has worn them all the time. I asked him to show me his shoes and how cute is the response I got!

Owen and Elliott’s grandma knitted the entire family these cute matching socks. We just had to get some photos of them!

Kimberly is a great friend of mine and also an AMAZING stylist! (If you’re ever looking for a new stylist, she’s one of the best in Charlotte… She’s at Salon Piper Glen.) Kimberly and her husband, Jeff, also donated to Images for a Cure and we had a great time on our mini-session. I’ve photographed them before so I knew how much Jeff hates the camera. I think I got some genuine smiles out of him and of course, Kimberly was just beautiful! Here are some of my favorites from the session.

This was the second time I’ve had the privilege of photographing the very talented brother-sister duo of Logan and Shelby. These kids are amazingly gifted in cheer leading and gymnastics and were very willing to show off their skills. We had a great time hanging out! Here are some of my favorites from the shoot.

Mack | IFAC Portraits

October 31, 2009

I just love this little boy. Mack is absolutely adorable! I have known his mommy since we were… um, how old are you in 5th grade? Anyway, Mack was my first Images for a Cure portrait mini-session and we had a blast playing at the park. All of his cute little expressions were priceless! Here are some of my favorites from the session.

Mason & Abby

October 10, 2009

Mason and Abby are a super brother-sister duo! Allyson and I had so much fun hanging out with them. Mason’s eyes are just magical (as evident in the portrait preview of this session)! And Abby’s beautiful, thick hair reminds me of my own when I was younger. Here are some of my favorites from this session.

Daniel & Zoe

September 14, 2009

I had such a fun time photographing Daniel and Zoe! They were both so sweet! We had fun on the playground at a nearby park… I think allowing children the opportunity to run around and be themselves gets the best, most genuine photographs. Here are some of my favorites from our session.
